Don't make the mistake of going into reading this book expecting it to be something it is not. It is not an attempt at an intricate mystery or deftly plotted suspense. It is not Lehane or King or Burke. It is a nice little pulp story. A little horror, a little mystery, a little sex.

While it is very obvious this was a first book setting up the story for the rest of the series it had plenty of fun to read. It isn't long and is perfect for that quick read when you just want to read something pulpy and escapist. It did a more than adequate job at setting up the series and did nothing to discourage me from reading the next book. I am looking forward to seeing where it goes. ( )

My one regret is that I can't mark this book any lower.
The one plus about this book is that it's short so the suffering doesn't last too long.
Matthew Cahill dies in an avalanche and then comes back to life three months later. Life has moved on without him and he tries to make a way for himself with someone. Unfortunately, for some unknown reason, he sees things that no one else can see--something that points to true evil.
The characters in this book were very flat. The story uninteresting. I will not be continuing the series. ( )

THE DEAD MAN: FACE OF EVIL by Lee Goldberg and William Rabkin is an exciting paranormal novella. This is the first in "THE DEAD MAN" series. The plot is interesting, easy to follow and reminds me of the Alfred Hitchcock series. The characters are interesting and will keep you longing for more. This is a series to watch for,it will keep you turning the pages from beginning to end. While Matt, has been buried under an avalanche for three months,he is found, taken to the morgue and found to be alive. When he awakens he finds he has a new twist of live and a new gift,If you can call it that. He sees the evil in people by seeing their decaying bodies, pus ridden sores, and other smelly, nasty things. This leads him to find that his childhood friend is evil. His wife died before he was in this accident,so he was attempting to start a new life, but when he learns of his gift he is scared of causing his new friend trouble so he decides to leave her to find answers. He need to learn who or what Dr. Dark really is.This is a story of good vs evil and is full of action. This book is a must read be all paranormal, thriller, suspense and fantasy readers. It will keep you wanting more and waiting for the next installment. This book was received for the purpose of review from Kaye Publicity and the author and details can be found at Createspace and My Book Addiction and More. I read this on my Kindle and really enjoyed it. The characters had an understandable background, the writing flowed smoothly and it was believeable. The 2 biggest issues I had w/ the book was 1 it was over too soon and 2 all of the questions weren't answered (but it left me hungering for the sequel). Since not all of the questions were answered, I gave the book 3 out of 5 stars, but I would recommend this to anyone. ( )

The Dead Man Face of Evil reminds me of Stephen King and Dean Koontz.[...]a fascinating horror story that leaves you wanting more, more, more!

The Dead Man: Face of Evil is a tight, well written, supernatural thriller [that] satisfies all on it's own, while being a terrific opener that promises an epic tale to come. I'm excited for the next book.
