"Whoever said football and girls don't mix hasn't read Catching Jordan. I couldn't put it down!" â?? Simone Elkeles, New York Times bestselling author of the Perfect Chemistry series

ONE OF THE BOYS

What girl doesn't want to be surrounded by gorgeous jocks day in and day out? Jordan Woods isn't just surrounded by hot guys, thoughâ??she leads them as the captain and quarterback of her high school football team. They all see her as one of the guys and that's just fine. As long as she gets her athletic scholarship to a powerhouse university.

But everything she's ever worked for is threatened when Ty Green moves to her school. Not only is he an amazing QB, but he's also amazingly hot. And for the first time, Jordan's feeling vulnerable. Can she keep her head in the game while her heart's on the line?

"A beautiful novel with a real and captivating depiction of high school relationships, Catching Jordan shows the same reverence for the human heart that it does for the game of football." â??Karsten Knight, author of Wilde… (más)

Caramellunacy: Another high school girl playing football with the boys - and with a crush on her rival. I enjoyed both, though Dairy Queen is more coming of age and Catching Jordan is more of a romance.

Library book with a cute cover (not the one in the goodreads photo) that caught my eye and I was intrigued by the idea of a female state champion QB as the heroine of a romance novel.

Plot is a love triangle/QB controversy and a tomboy trying to navigate the romantic AND non romantic relationships in her life with mixed results It had potential but left me feeling flat. I was unimpressed by the writing and also felt like the author must have had a sponsorship deal with Gatorade because I think she mentioned it every few sentences. So good ideas but I had a hard time caring about any of the characters. ( )

This book was really good and packed a much bigger punch then i expected. It turned into a different love story then i was expecting but i really enjoyed the main character and her path. I like seeing a girl in football and the impact that had on her life. It was a fast pace read and hope to read more by this author soon. ( )

Meh, meh, and more meh. The whole book just struck me as shallow. Jordan was pretty self-absorbed and the rest of the characters were two-dimensional (or in some cases, one dimensional). And at the risk of sounding like the pearl-clutching, hand-wringing hordes, the attitude towards sex was so, so casual, it was a little weird and I think would have been better suited to the New Adult or Contemporary Romance genres than it was towards Young Adult. Fieldnotes:
2 Rival Quarterbacks - of which:
-1 Girl with Serious Talent and a Desire to Play College Ball, not be Poster Girl
-1 Smokin' Hot New Kid with a Tragic Backstory
1 Best Friend with Issues
2 (Mostly) Realistically Good Parents
3 Vapid Cheerleaders
2 Awesome Cheerleaders
Several Bouts of Promiscuity
Countless Scenes that Reminded me of Remember the Titans (that's a Good Thing)

The Long Version
I actually really liked this one. I have found I really enjoy girl playing football stories ([Dairy Queen], [Playing with the Boys]) and while Jordan never won me over quite as much as DJ, I liked her a lot and I always understood her - even when I was yelling at her on-page for making short-sighted stupid decisions.

Best though was the fact that she had a really good relationship with her mom (though quiet) and a genuinely concerned father - it was nice to see involved parents in a YA novel. I liked the frank and non-judgmental way sexuality was dealt with, and I could've smacked Jordan for not realizing earlier that girls can be good and fun friends too. Marie is seriously awesome.

Finally - I'm not into the love triangle, here or in general. But I did like how Jordan eventually dealt with this one. ( )

"4 out of 5 stars!! I think I half fell in love with this novel ever since I read it's description! How could anyone, not like reading about a girl who is more tomboy than anything yet still cute that has a football team full of guy friends and is still coming into her own woman. I could not get enough of this book! Jordan's friends are great and..."

Debut author Kenneally does a solid job of depicting Jordan’s conflicted emotions, the pressure she is under, and her testy relationship with her father. Despite the gridiron setting, this is at its heart a romance—most of the action and drama takes place off the field.
