The interviews with the children in the families in the book are precious. It's neat hearing about the families from the kids' point of views. The pictures are diverse with a wide range of ethnicity and uniqueness. A nice note from the author in the beginning about her process of developing the book and a thorough acknowledgment section in the back thanking all of the families involved. ( )

The book FAMILIES is a book for kids of all ages. This book goes through all kinds of different families and has the kids themselves talk about their family and why their families are great. The pictures in this book are actual photographs which I like because it shows the kids what the family actually looks without having to explain it in many details. I think this book can be used in the class when they are talking about how every family is different but also how they are the same. ( )

A book that explores the diverse make up of the modern American family. The author provides an author note that express the process the author took to create this book. The author spent time interviewing tons of families from divorce, race, special needs, culture or heritage, religion, living with one parent or extended families.

A great book for all students to consider their own families. I love how the author actually interviews all types of families in order to create this book. The author was able to consider all aspects that comprise families and ensure that all readers will be able to connect with this book.

I would like to use this book in my classroom by sharing this book with my students and then creating class book about each students family. ( )

I liked this book mainly because of the different representations of families were demonstrated, and this was super sweet to see. I disliked that there was a lot of text, because this could make it extremely difficult for students to perceive. However, I did like that each new family that was introduced was a new story told by that families perspective. I think that the overall main message for this book, is that no matter what, every family is different, and they all have their own story that they need to share in order to educate the world. ( )
