I liked this book. It really shows how Fred gets the honey from bees and provides for his town. Fred's culture is pretty fascinating because he lives for these bees. His whole life revolves around the bees and their honey. ( )

Lela Nargi's "The Honeybee Man," is about a man who is a beekeeper and collects honey from his bees. Fred has made a name for himself because he is so invested in the bee world. He knows all about bees and how the operate. When his bees are done making honey, he collects it and gives some to his neighbors. Fred likes being known as the beekeeper because he is passionate about doing it. This book would encourage children to do what they truly like. If its something you truly like and you are passionate about it, would you mind a name be given to you after your hobby? A hobby is nothing to be ashamed of. Everyone has something they like. ( )

Fred takes care of his bees in Brooklyn. This little picture book is filled with facts about those who care for honeybees and honeybees themselves. A nice introduction to the world of the urban beekeeper.

“Fred closes his eyes and lets his mind wander. Will Queen Mab’s daughters find mint flowers as they did last year? Will Queen Boadicea’s honey be dark like molasses or light and clear like amber?” ( )
