Who was Dr. Seuss? Theodor Seuss Geisel was born March 2, 1904. His mother was Henrietta Geisel and his father were Theodor Geisel. Seuss’s name (Dr. Seuss) was created when he started writing his short stories in his school newspaper. He would sign Dr. Seuss. Most people didn’t know that it was him, so they gave this mysterious Dr. Seuss lots of laughs. In 1927 Seuss got married to his first wife Helen Palmer he later divorced her in 1967. In 1943 Seuss joined the army to fight in the war. Seuss wasn't an athlete to the army put him in a cartoon position. He would make political cartoons and his cartoons would be in the newspaper. Seuss did this for a while but soon realized that that's not exactly where he wants his career to go so, he “dropped out” and fulfilled his dreams. After his divorce Seuss decided that he wanted to remarry so he married Audrey Geisel and stayed married with her until death. Seuss died on September 24, 1991. I love Dr. Seuss so learning he joined the military blew my mind. I had always imagined him as a scrawny man and not the athletic type until I read that he didn’t fight he just wrote cartoons. I think that if he lived to 2018 like his second wife did, he would be proud at the amount of kids that read his books. If any other author tried to copy his work and make up words and rhymes. They would surely fail. Great book to help students just starting out with the genre of biographies. Small chapters that provide a timeline of Dr. Seuss' life from child to an adult. There were simple black and white line illustrations that help tell the story of Dr. Seuss. Was easy to navigate and includes a table of contents, a visual timeline, and a bibliography. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

Ted Geisel loved to doodle from the time he was a kid. He had an offbeat, fun-loving personality. He often threw dinner parties where guests wore outrageous hats! And he donned quirky hats when thinking up ideas for books like his classic The Cat in the Hat. This biography, with black-and-white illustrations throughout, brings an amazingly gifted author/illustrator to life. No se han encontrado descripciones de biblioteca. |
