I have read all of Dick Francis' work and am a tremendous fan and have read the last few collaborations with a good deal of hope and pleasure. So I went hopeful into this first book that Felix Francis wrote alone. He had the tone and the formula down pat. It was a wonderful satisfying quick read. The mystery was interesting, the solution nicely figured out. The voice of the male protagonist was true. The horse bits and the way the hero felt about his racing career were realistic. There was plenty of action and a nice relationship with realistic problems. I look forward with anticipation for further books by Felix Francis and judging by this one I will happily read them all. Another very good novel by Dick Francis' son, Felix. The characters were very likable, and I enjoyed the different plot very much. Learning about being an Investment adviser in England was also very cool. I hope he writes more along this vein. He may not be his father, but he is a very good author, and a damn fine story-teller to boot. I was captivated from the first chapter. I'd been waiting a long time to read Gamble, Felix Francis's first outing as a solo author, and I'm glad I finally got the chance recently. It's no mean feat to step out from under the shadow of another successful author, let alone when that author was your father, but Felix has ensured with Gamble (and his other books) that he owns the genre in his own right. Maintaining the trademark elements of horseracing and skulduggery, Felix adds his own twist and thoroughly modernises this style of thriller. I'll definitely be reading more. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

In this story Nick had been a jockey, when a broken neck ended that career. He becomes an accountant, working for a large firm. A client of the firm approaches him, about an investment he has with the firm, seems the development never happened. When Nick starts to investigate, bodies start to pile up, and his own life is in danger. Great Story. ( )
