older book, but great information.

This is a book about co-sleeping, i.e. having children sleep in the same bed as parents. I'm a big fan of co-sleeping (it worked well for me and my family), and this book offers a lot of suggestions and support for parents considering this option. (Or, for parents who are already convinced, but who would like some moral support on an issue that isn't always popular in U.S. society in general). The book is not necessarily the best written parenting book ever, but it gave me more confidence about the decsion I'd made, and the knowledge that I was not the only person who'd made this particular parenting choice. Discusses pros and cons of children sleeping with their parents and/or siblings. Historical perspectives, as well as personal experiences, provide very helpful reading for parents who worry about sleep problems.

This is an age when men value organizations more than their members. When we force children to conform to our convenience, our schedules, our boundaries, and our locked dorrs, we show them that we value the system more than we value them.

Dedicatoria
Información procedente del conocimiento común inglés. Edita para encontrar en tu idioma.
We must continue to search for better ways of living, for if we stop, and accept the present as final and authoritative, we shall no longer grow and progress.

For answers to questions which this search evokes, I always ask myself, how does nature intend for it to be? How far have we become diverted from nature.

I am a young mother living in a society which discourages and belittles these questions. And yet I feel I must try to follow those feelings of motherhood which nature bestowed on me when I gave birth to our children.

I have hope for the future because there is now a growing number of persons who encourage childrearing with love and human understanding, rather than with a schedule in one hand and a clock in the other.

The need people have for one another is not active only during the day, or at pre-determined hours. This need is continuous from the moment of conception, and throughout life, even though it may vary in intensity.

Perhaps the past generations have seen the depth of human misunderstanding. I am hopeful.

It is my wish that this book will be a contribution in the search for a better world, a future which lies in the hands of the children.

I have thus dedicated this book to Yvonne and Michelle, our two beautiful children, with whom my husband and I share our table, our bed, our house, and our life. -T.T.
