A collection of papers from a 1984 American Antiquarian Society conference on needs and opportunities relating to book historical research in the United States. I'd read several of these pieces before, but I was surprised anew when reading through the whole thing about how many of the needs and opportunities presented here still haven't yet been accomplished, more than thirty years on.
