Sarah also has Down's Syndrome. They both love to dance; they belong to the same ballet class. They go to the same school, too. Sarah sometimes needs a one-on-one because Down's Syndrome kids learn a little slower than kids without Down's. Sometimes Carmen misses Sarah when she is not at school because Sarah has to go to the doctor for a checkup. But when she gets back to school, she has a friend waiting for her whose name is Carmen. ( ) This book is good for explaining about people with down syndrome. They can still be friends and have different interests and are not that much different to be around. This book talks about their friendship and includes many facts about kids with down syndrome that many may not know. I like the different struggles that this shows. It can really show a class how these kids are over coming more than they can imagine but learn to think of them as not as different as the rest. Window book This book is about a little girl who has a friend with down syndrome. I think this book does a good job at accurately portraying children with down syndrome. I like how the narrator highlights the common interests between her and her friend with down syndrome. It also provides off-side facts separate from the story line about down syndrome. The book is very educational while still being interesting enough to hold the reader's interest. It also has a glossary and a more descriptive excerpt on down syndrome in the back. The illustrations are colorful and take up the entire page. There is no background information provided by the author. This book introduces us to Sarah- a character with down syndrome- which I think is great, but I feel like the book only slightly touches on the condition; I don't think a child will understand down syndrome any better after reading this book, but it does show the reader that Sarah likes doing the same things that any other kid likes to do. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
