Fiction. Romance. Historical Fiction. HTML:London's most talented criminal is about to be fingered...

Lady Viola Preston can relieve a gentleman of the studs at his wrists without his being any the wiser and pick any lock devised by man in less than a minute. But she's careful to wear gloves when she steals jewels. Because when Viola touches a gemstone with her bare skin, it "speaks" to her, sending disturbing visions--visions almost as unsettling as the sight of the cool-eyed stranger who catches her red handed.

Now Viola will only be stealing at Greydon Quinn's behest. And even more daunting than the violent history of the red diamond he's after is the prospect of a night in the devastatingly handsome lieutenant's arms. Touch has always been Viola's weakness, and the full body-to-body contact Quinn has in mind is about to shatter her defenses and set her senses reeling.

Didnt finish. Why? I dont like the romances where the H has learnt some exotic sex tricks. Its just something so cheesy and un-sexy about it.

And here we learn hes being tutored on the very first page.

Even if the plot sounded good,I just couldnt bring myself to read it...Just by that first page my desire (pun intended) to read it died. ( )

Pity about the historical goofs. I was excited to find the first few pages set in one of my favourite historical periods: Victorian India. But the bubble of excitement popped the moment the author introduced the fiendish thugs and exhibited a complete ignorance of their history, practices and beliefs.

The stolen gem could have come straight from Sax Rohmer, and the aristocratic lady thief from a dozen other sources.

And when Ms Marlowe spelled 'Eton' as 'Eaton', well, either she's too busy to do her own research or she has a very sloppy editor.

Three stars for being otherwise well-written and well-paced. The touch of paranormal gem psychometry was original. ( )

I had just returned a historical fiction novel, so my librarian recommended this book to me. I didn't know it was a romance novel, but I hav to say the characters and story were well developed. ( )
