Family & Relationships. Self-Improvement. Nonfiction. Humor (Nonfiction.) The Sweet Potato Queens like men. They like them so much that they have devoted an absolutely inordinate amount of time to the pursuit of men, marriage, and great sex. And then, when that doesn t work out, they've devoted an inordinate amount of time to divorce, gittin another one and having great sex with him instead. THE SWEET POTATO QUEENS' FIELD GUIDE TO MEN is the Queens manifesto on all matters of the heart, featuring tales from Queens around the world, plus the continuing adventures of the women you've come to know and love (and envy just a little bit). In this audiobook, Wannabe Queens everywhere will learn: the difference between a Bud Spud, a Spud Stud, a Crud Stud, and other Studs; T.G.S. This book was so funny! Definitely a keeper because I had to read some of it twice. ( )

Jill Conner Browne is a very talented writer, no question about that, and her latest book did offer several laugh-out-loud moments. Her descriptions of the various types of men (and the women who are involved with them) was very funny. She devoted one brief chapter to explaining why "he" didn't call, which combined humor and down-home good sense as only the SPQ can do.

I liked the book....was I crazy about it? Not so much. I know it's humor and may not at all reflect her real views of things but she needs to tread more catiously or she may loose a portion of her readers. In one chapter she goes on endlessly about her plastic surgery experience, from which she recuperates with a shopping spree. In another section, she describes her experience with acuptuncture, blissfully glossing over the expense of it. from the discriptions of her previous books I thought she would come across more folksy and full of love-for-life. In discussing her high-priced indulgences, however, she comes across as spoiled and decadent. This kind of self-worshipping prattle distances her from those of us who don't have endless piles of money, and frankly makes her book less enjoyable to read.

This doesn't mean that the latest SPQ book isn't worth reading. it certainly is and others may view it much differently than I did. Will I read another one? Maybe. ( )

I love these books. This one wasn't quite as good as the others I've read, but still fun and inspiring. I think marriage has tamed her down a little bit. ( )

What can I say-I love the Sweet Potato Queen books. I don't get the wigs or the boots or the parade, but I definatly get the mindset. I started reading the books when I heard my mom hooting and hollering in laughter reading them. She said it wouldn't be as funny to me because I'm not old enough or fat enough-and that may be the case. But I'm still in stitches everytime I read or hear these books. Trust me, the way the author speaks is enough to make listening to the books worthwhile, rather than reading them.

This is an excellent book that goes into what men are like, what women are like around men, and the crazy stuff we do to get around men more. Think of it as the southern "He's really not that into you," only funny. ( )

For my sweet mama, Janice Wendt Conner, who taught me the joys of reading and eating (especially at the same time) and who provided me with the best daddy the world has ever known.

And for my beloved sister, Judy Conner Palmer, who shared my idyllic childhood and has, to this very day, somehow resisted smothering me in my sleep.

If being a mother is like being pecked to death by a duck (and don't we all know that's true?), then being a wife or a girlfriend or somebody's significant other must be more like - well, what is it like?
