A rooster and hen decide they will move to the city and become a king and queen. Other animals join their aspiring project, with an old shoe their equivalent of a carriage and field mice as horses, a sparrow as the queen's maid, a duck as the cook, a crow as a butler, etc. until they meet a fox who tells them the city is far away and invites them to spend the night at his house. Only the tiny sparrow realizes something is wrong and cries out at the last moment, allowing them to escape. Back at the farm everyone decides they're really quite content with their previous lot in life. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

Personal Reaction: Reading this book makes me realize how life is in general. I say this because, everyone wants something new in life right away. But what they don't know is how much time and effort it takes to get there. No one can just jump right up and go get what they want, they have to work for it in order for them to go get it.
Classroom Extensions: 1.) In the classroom I would first ask all students what is their favorite farm animal.
2.) I would let them sit down and tell me if they would have a farm what animals would they put on the farm.
3.) With reading this book I would let them sound out all the voices that each animal makes in the book.
