This novel does measure up to the others in the series. One thing I did find different though, is that it seems the author figured if you got to this one, you must have read the others. He made mention of many things that referenced events or persons from the other books without explanation and I didn't feel they stood well on their own. Since I've read the books before this one I had no problem with this, however it means for persons you may not have read the others that this book does not do well on its own. ****SPOILERS**** It seems that poor Ellie just can't catch a break. Life is so difficult for her on a daily basis that it seems like she would have given up by now. She has to rescue the Liberation gang - AGAIN! In addition to farm crises, having to save Gavin's life TWICE (three times if you count when he followed the guys from Liberation), and at the end seems to be getting involved with Liberation - AGAIN! It did seem to be a little over the top in such a short time period in the novel. I'm anxious to read the final installment in the series and hope I am satisfied with the ending. The Ellie Chronicles picks up where the Tomorrow series left off. When you've been to war, when you've fought, when you've killed, how do you return to normal life? How do you cope with school, farming and parenthood when you've grown used to just surviving? Especially when your land borders on a newly formed nation? In this trilogy we see Ellie trying to cope with normal life as she faces challenges posed by her friends' decision to join a guerrilla organisation, a corrupt lawyer and the fact that the enemy hasn't forgotten about her... The Ellie Chronicles are well worth reading. You'd think I'd get bored of this, especially after reading 9 books in a row (pretty much) of the same subject. But I love every one as much as the last. This one was great, we're getting back into battles between the Liberation group and the raiding parties of the invaders. Also the truth of Gavin's past is revealed, which I found utterly fascinating. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

Australia's most popular young adult author John Marsden delivers the much anticipated second title in The Ellie Chronicles. Incurable follows While I Live, the post-war series featuring the immensely popular Ellie Linton, heroine and narrator of the Tomorrow series. "I held my line. I knew from the war, if not from shooting rabbits, that we were safe enough for the first moments. It is too impossible to hit a target like us from a helicopter that's rocking and rolling and trying to find its target. But maybe this guy had new equipment or maybe he was a brilliant shot or maybe he was just plain lucky. Bullet holes tore through the ute like a huge metal-punch was suddenly and roughly slamming a simultaneous line of them from our rear to our front."Ellie has struggled to put the war behind her and lead a normal life. Although what's normal about your parents having been murdered; trying to run a farm and go to school; and bringing up a young boy who's hiding terrible secrets about his past? Packed full of action and high-drama, John Marsden delivers another fast-paced adventure that will thrill old fans and new readers alike. No se han encontrado descripciones de biblioteca. |

She and Gavin have a few life or death adventures during the course of this book, with the most terrifying one happening in the closing pages. Gavin learns that his sister is alive but before they are able to have a reunion, Gavin and Ellie come face to face with an evil from Gavin’s past. There is one more book in the trilogy and I am hoping that this last book will bring prosperity, peace and happiness to Ellie and those whom she loves.
Although Ellie remains one of my favorite characters I will be happy to finish the series as I am finding the action is becoming quite repetitive. I have enjoyed this series so much that I am hoping it ends on a high note. ( )
