Abadeha's father marries and his new wife and children move into their house. Abadeha's stepmother treats her badly, but the Spirit of the Forest appears to help Abadeha escape her miserable life.

Personal Response:
This story is a bit long for a story time, but could be offered in an abridged version. I like the Philippine elements mixed in to the well-known Cinderella tale: Spirit of the Forest, jewel tree, son of a chieftain.

Curricular Connections:
I would use this story as part of a story time about Cinderella tales from around the world. (
