The conceit that she's telling everything to her therapist worked in Stevens's first book, but here it gets old pretty fast. The main character isn't likeable at all. The big twist (there has to be a twist) wasn't believable. I ended up quickly skimming the latter two thirds of this one. So, this was another win on First Reads that was sent to me for free. I loved it. I absolutely loved it. Why no 5 stars then? The main character is pretty whiny. In the beginning it's a bit irritating. Then, you start to feel like she has some reason to be wound a bit tight, but occasionally it still chafes. Also, it took some time to really get into the book, at least three or four chapters. It wasn't until probably 100 pages or so in that I really got gripped in the story. But, once it did it was a total page turner. I stayed up WAY too late last night reading it (which is always my mark of a truly good read) and am suffering for it today. REALLY, really recommend. (Little bit of language, not excessive at all.) I really love Chevy Stevens, so was excited to read Never Knowing while being out of town for a work meeting. When this started I thought I was going to be freaked out reading this in a hotel room by myself. It starts off by learning about a serial killer. However; this fell flat for me. I was expecting a heart pounding thriller, and I just kept waiting for that moment for the story to be over the edge. Most of the action is between phone calls with Sara and the killer. I found it dragged on a little too much and was a little too repetitive. I wanted something else to happen. Even towards the end I was waiting for the twist on who the killer may be, and it never came. The twist that did come just did not work for me. It was pretty predictable as well. Overall, this was still pretty good but did not meet my expectations coming from an author that normally blows me away. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
