( ) In my opinion this book was not a great story. The plot in this story seemed very thin, the characters were under-developed, and the writing was sub-par. The plot had no real conflict, and very little suspense. For maybe 2 pages the reader was suspenseful to see if Zimmo the wolf would eat Betsy's grandmother or not, but most of the other pages in the book had no real substance to them. The story didn't teach any lessons or morals so there almost seemed to be no point to it. The 2 main characters in the story, Betsy and Zimmo, both seemed very under-developed; after finishing the book I still felt as if I knew nothing about either character. The author told us that Zimmo was a shepherd with Betsy, but that is almost the only thing we learned about either character. Lastly, the writing was a little bit too simplistic. I understand that it was written for a younger age group, but the bulk of the book was just speech bubbles above the sheep saying things like "Maybe he's in a B-A-A-A-D mood" and "Wool should be dry cleaned." These little sayings were cute and humorous but took up most of the page and had no real purpose. The best part of this book was definitely the illustrations by Scott Nash. As I read, my favorite part was looking at the creative illustrations that went along with the story. I wasn't very impressed by this book but the illustrations were great. This book is a spin off of The Little Red Riding Hood story many of us grew up with. It has an alternate ending and is a little different of a story line. Betsy Red Hoodie takes a walk to her grandmothers house, taking her sheep and wolf with her. Assuring her that he would not eat Grandma, Betsy let wolf come along. She faces some struggles on the way and finds ways to overcome them. When Wolf disappears, Betsy worries that he has gotten Grandmother! But when she arrives she quickly realizes that she had arrived at a surprise party her family planned for her. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
