After meeting Anna and Conlan briefly in Countess of Scandal, I needed to know what happened to them next. I wasn't disappointed since this is easily my favorite of the trilogy. The characters are strongly and believably drawn. And you feel like you are right there with them. ( ) Mini Book Review: I really enjoyed this one and rate it a cut above the usual escapist historical romance I enjoy. This is mostly due to the character and plot development, as there is not the usual stereotypical misunderstandings and denial, and you were actually surprised when things happened. The heroine actually spoke up about her feelings and didn't play games. Anna is a strong willed, intelligent compassionate heroine that you admire. The hero also was quite honest and open, which honestly even-though I love the historical romance genre, is not something that often happens. He wasn't your stereotypical bad boy turned good by the love of a sweet virgin. Conlan is a fiery Irish man fighting for the good of his country and appreciates a women with a brain and a heart, not just beauty. There are plenty of twists and turns, hot passionate love scenes and even some accurate historical information included. There are some mistakes that should have been caught in editing, but hey not that noticeable. Highly recommend this for a blustery Canadian night curled up on the couch with a glass of wine. Will be passing this on to Joan as it is based in Ireland and I think she will enjoy. 3.75 Dewey's Honestly cannot remember where I got it from, I think I won it -- but cannot find any documentation on it -- oops, sorry. For being the second book in a series, I didn't feel lost at all not reading the first one. I have it, I couldn't find it to read it first. I plan on reading it anyways, I feel it is probably as good as this one. Which I loved this book! It had just the right amount of each element to keep me interested and wanting so much more. All in a great way! The characters were meshed well and drew you into their world. One of my new favorite historical romance authors! And definitely on my recommendation list! DUCHESS OF SIN by Laurel McKee is a wonderful, delightful historical romance set in 1799 Dublin, Ireland. It is well written with depth, details, twists and turns. It is the second in The Daughters of Erin Trilogy but can be read as a stand alone. The first in this series was Countress of Scandal It has romance, passion, betrayal, loyalties, secrets, trust, distrust, the fight for free Ireland, politics and sweet sensuality. The characters are enduring, enchanting, will grip your heart and are very entertaining. The hero, Conlan, is Irish, handsome, dangerous, determined, has dark secrets, attempting to keep his ancestorical home and in love with the beautiful Lady Anna. The heroine, Anna, is beautiful, notorious, full of mischief, has dark secrets from her past, and is falling in love with the dark mysterious Conlan. This is a very intriguing and entertaining story of love, sacrifice and what some of the Irish people had to do to keep their lands. I would highly recommend this book especially if you enjoy history, passion, love of country and countrymen.
