Kids love to read about fascinating animal facts. It could be used to excite kids about an animal research project. The book could also be used as a resource for animal report research. Nic Bishop does a wonderful job capturing the life of a lizard whether it’s on text or in pictures. The writing gives us basic information, fascinating facts about what lizards look like, their habits, and even their life cycles. I love many things about what Nic Bishop does in his book and one of them is the fact that he highlights and writes in a larger, bolder, and different color font the main idea of the page. I think that is something that will help readers understand what is so important about each page, it sure did with me. The index and glossary at the end of the book were certainly useful, especially for someone who is just beginning to learn more about this special creature. He gives many facts and I really enjoyed this because I have learned so much things I did not know prior to reading this book. For example, some lizards do not lay eggs, but the mother holds them inside her body, finally giving birth. His photos are the best I have ever seen. He captures exactly what he describes and this is truly tremendous. I was shocked that I have enjoyed this book as much as I have and I am looking to purchase it for my future classroom. This book is all about lizards! The format is a picture on one page and some information about the depicted reptile on the opposite page. I suppose you could attach this book to a lesson on biomes - maybe habitat destruction? I think this book would be at home in any low level biology class. This book was okay. I definitely would have enjoyed it more in my younger days. It has some great close-up pictures and some neat information about the different species of lizards out there. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
