This is a good example of a picture book/fiction because it has little ducks that are ready for bedtime but can't sleep because of all the noises at night that are out around the pond. This is a good book to do for nap time but its a good book to use when you want to calm your children down to rest and relax. The illustrations are fun and detailed seeing all the different things around a pond and how the little ducks could relate to children on not being able to sleep at night but then with moms being there to comfort them they fall fast asleep.

This author has a series of books about the duck family. This one in particular is about Little Quacks bedtime. It tells about five little ducklings who are supposed to be going to sleep. Each duckling hears or sees something in the dark and ask the mama duck what it is. She explains what it is and then one of the ducklings falls asleep, this continues until all the ducklings are asleep. The pictures are cute, and it matches the text very well. ( )

This is a really cute little board book. It tells about five little ducklings that are supposed to be going to sleep. On each page the ducklings hear or see something in the dark and ask the mama duck what it is. She explains what it is and then one of the ducklings falls asleep, this continues until all the ducklings are asleep.

My 2 year old loves this book and makes us read it over and over. The pictures are very cute. When we read it, we made up actions for each of the things that happened (firefly's blinking, trees swaying, etc). This book really lent itself to having actions added and talks about the sounds things made; my son loves repeating the sounds and actions both.

There was a lot of educational value packed in this book. Of course there are five little ducklings who progressively fall asleep; so you get a little counting in there. We would ask my son how many ducklings were left awake. You get to learn about sounds at night and make neat sounds. All the little ducklings have cute names, so we would ask my son what there names were. We actually called the last duck Little (my son's name), instead of Little Quack and he got a kick out of that. Also this book talks about scary things in the dark and how they aren't so scary. It also has a positive ending about why the dark is good.

All in all I was surprised at how many fun little bits of knowledge were packed into this book. A great book for a kid that is afraid of the dark or for any little kid that loves books.

As I said my son loves it and has been making us read it at least 2 times a night for the last couple weeks. ( )
