This was a good book. It was a decent read for the young reader. Things I liked? The type is a decent size. The pictures are outstanding. Not a complicated plot, just describing the different X-men and what they do. And some words have pronunciation keys to help the young reader sound out the words.

It is meant to be read by a reader who can start reading books by themselves. And I believe them.

Oh boy, so now I know who the X-Men are and where they come from! My five year old read this to me. He enjoyed it quite a bit and took, I believe, a lot of information away from it. I found it to be rather a tedious and incoherent read, but I'm not the target audience. By design it's anecdotal, listing the different characters and what their story and special powers are. The vocabulary and proper names are slightly challenging at times, good exercise in sounding out long words. These DK readers are great for keeping our little emerging readers motivated ... ( )
