Descripción:
History & Location

River Heights Library was originally opened in 1961 on land purchased from the Winnipeg School Board. It was the first of several libraries to be built by the City of Winnipeg in the 1960's. The branch replaced the heavily used Waterloo-Corydon bookmobile stop. It is centrally located in River Heights on Corydon Avenue between Brock and Cordova Streets.

Collections

River Heights is a medium-sized community library housing the Adult collection on the main floor and the Children's collection on the lower level. The branch has a strong collection in both Adult and Children's materials in several different formats. Besides the hardcover collection there are paperbacks, magazines, music cassettes and CD's, and books on tape for all ages. There are also rotating large print and video collections. River Heights Library circulates well more than 300,000 items yearly. River Heights Library provides free public access to the Internet and Library databases.

Facility

River Heights Library is a two level facility. It has ample seating much of which is located by large windows offering much natural light in the Adult main floor area. The lower level Children's area offers a friendly atmosphere for our younger readers and their families. Automatic doors and a ground level entrance make the main floor accessible to all. A book chute is located to the left of the front door for after hours returns. (Information about meeting room for rent here.)
