I attach the cue cat and then I click on usb icon where it says:
"One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned and Windows does not recognize it."
I have read all previous posts and completed each of the recommended responses. Still nothing. What am I missing?
I have windows XP updated to 8. I have an hp pavilion a1630n. I use a wireless keyboard and mouse. Either of these be the problem?
Is there an easy step by step process I can go through to make this work? I am a 1st grade teacher with thousands of books to keep track of and hoped so much this would work.
Or, could it have been injured in shipping? It came in a padded envelope with the paper with directions. no protective covering.

Since you're getting the Windows error, it does sound like the Cat is damaged. Email Tim about it - usually he'll send you a new one. It should plug in with no messages (or just one about installing your new hardware) and the light should come up.
