I'm reading Romancing Miss Bronte by Juliet Gael, and so far I like it. I've never been a rabid Bronte fan, though I've read about half of the sisters' collected works. Now I'm interested in reading the rest, as well as any good biographies I can get my hands on...I have the Gaskell biography. Has anyone else read this? What do you think?

It's been ages since I read the Gaskell biography. From what I remember it's very kind, having been written by a friend of Charlotte's, as Mrs. Gaskell was. But I enjoyed it and it gives a good background on Charlotte's life. There was a lot more information that was covered up at the time (naturally, considering people were still alive) concerning Bramwell's indescretions and troubled lifestyle. We discuss other biographies in another thread here: http://www.librarything.com/groups/thebronts#forums There's some really good suggestions.

I'm reading that biography by Gaskell this very moment! Only about 50 pages in so I can't say much about it yet, but that it's very detailed.
