This will kick-off July 1st! Schedule to follow! I hope we have a nice crowd. It looks to be a perfect summer read!

I've been meaning to read this one forever, and I already have it on my shelf, so I think I'll join you!

Added this thread to our list of group reads on the group home page. I'll join in if I can!

I'll be lurking. I read this book years ago, and would do a reread but will be on vacation for much of the end of July and first part of August. I don't do nearly as much reading while I am on vacation so will check in with the group from time-to-time but probably won't be on-time with everybody else. This is a great book and the basis for so many other things. Like the musical "Camelot!"

Oh wow! I just saw this thread... I hope I have enough self-discipline to join in on this one, but I don't have a good track record with group reads, haha. I'll bring the book upstairs and stick it on the bedside table to remind myself...! It's been on my shelf for nearly a decade, so it's about time it was read...

You can count me in too. I have the book in fact I own two copies with different covers but have never gotten around to reading it so now seems like a good time and some incentive to actually read the book. I look forward to reading the book and seeing what everyone else is saying about the book.

I'm very happy with the response so far! I read this wonderful King Arthur tale back in my early high school years and I've been meaning to re-read it for years!
13ronincats
I last read it about 40 years ago, when I bought the paperback for $1.25. Looking forward to a re-read!

Oh, I think I'm in, too! I have a paperback copy somewhere--I'll go find it. I am with you all who read the book decades ago. I read it in junior high school, and I'm sure that a lot of it went right over my head. I can't wait to read it again.

Count me in as well. I am a sucker for all Group Reads, (especially Mark's), & things "Arthurian".
"The Park, Bitterman, the Park. Take me through the Park. You know how I love the Park."
Oh sorry, wrong "Arthur". Ha ha; sometimes I just crack myself up!~! LOL!~!
Off to find a copy. Thanx for saving me a spot Mark.
big warm hug,

When I ordered this book from my local small retain book shop; the gentleman on the other end of the line said that this was his all-time favorite read. He reads it at least once a year.
Sounds like we choose a good one as he has never steered me wrong in all the years I have been shopping there.
And they just began a R/L bookclub. Yea!~! It's only about 1 hour away and I got in on their 3rd book; My Abandonment by Peter Rock. Very good. Next month we are doing Tinkers by Paul Harding. I hope it is as good.
See y'all back here on the 1st.
Thank you Mark.

I've never done a group read, but I'm going to try to do this one despite two handicaps, namely: It's not available on Kindle and I need to find an actual paper copy; and (b), I'm going to be on vacation at the Outer Banks from June 27-July 4th and may not have Internet access. Woe is me. I may have to just lolligag by the ocean.

belva, I too have read this one over and over. I love it! I won't be joining the group, but I plan to lurk and see how everyone is liking it :)

Belva- It sounds like the guy at the book-shop has impeccable taste! I hope you like Tinkers, it contains some fantastic writing!
Jeanne- Glad you are joining us, despite the handicaps! Hope you find a copy in time and have a wonderful vacation!
Kath- Glad you are going to pop in now and then!

My favorite copy of this book is a paperback given me by my dearest friend in 1980 or early '81. She thought I would like it . She passed very shortly after.. so it is good to hold it in my hands knowing that she did so once too :)
Aside from that, because of this book, I often find myself wondering how it feels to be the other guy ( bird, fish, cat)...I love it so!

Sounds fun. I enjoyed this book when I read it several years ago, and I too am an Arthurian junkie.

This is a great opportunity to read a book that has been on my list for ages. Just have to get my hands on a copy...

Welcome aboard gang! Here's the game plan: The book is divided into 4 sections, the lengths vary from around 150 pages to just over 200. We'll read a section a week. I'll put up a separate "spoiler" thread for each week.
Once again this is just a guideline, read at your own pace. This is not meant to be a race or a chore. This is FUN!
