Interested in finding some books for my challenge specifically from Cape Breton. I understand No Great Mischief is set in Cape Breton? Any other recommendations?

Fall on Your Knees is also set on Cape Breton. It's an emotionally exhausting read, but very, very good.

Tessie Gillis is considered by many the godmother of Cape Breton fiction. Two novels and some stories-- in recent collected works, The Woman From Away. Dark, daring, great good humour.

Check out Breton Books www.atlanticpublishers.ca/publishers/entry/Breton-Books/ and Cape Breton University Press www.cbu.ca/Press/about.asp
They are two of the oldest publishing companies on the island.

I've also used Atlantic Canada's 100 greatest books as a starting point. It has a little bit of everything in it!

Island: The Complete Stories is a series of short stories, apparently largely set in Cape Breton.

The wise and foolish virgins is set in Cape Breton as well.

To Every Thing There Is a Season: a Cape Breton Christmas Story

Both of these are now on my wishlist :P
