For spring break in March, my 20 yr old daughter, Ben & I found a very nice 1 bedroom, 1 bath, sleeper sofa condo in the historic part of Savannah, Ga. Ben was able to take a night time carriage ride with us, go out for breakfast & order off the menu and also went with us to dinner. He met so many other dogs and had such a time. The condo owner left him a jar of treats as well.

Monday we are returning to same condo for a few days and then moving over to Hilton Head for a few days. They will allow dogs on the beach any time before Memorial Day and after the holiday only select hours.

So....I am booking our stay at the Hilton Beach Resort. It goes like this.
His name please?
It's Anthony.
You named your dog Anthony?
What, oh no, HIS name is Benjamin or Ben. um, why do you ask?
Maam, we would like to greet him as well at check in!

If Oprah didn't pave the way maybe Paris Hilton did! This should be a treat!

Oh man - that's fabulous! I don't know of anywhere quite like that on this side of the world. I haven't attempted travelling with Brontë yet but hope to do so in the future - hopefully I can find somewhere just as pet friendly!

Val, google pet friendly vacations and that might help. Here in the states, there is a rv campground that just cater to dog owners. It's quite large with a place for them to swim, and an open area for just running, water areas at their height etc. Savannah is unusual that most of the town is so pet friendly. Folks stop & chat with you on the walk regarding your pet, sit near one another at the outside cafe's so the dogs can lay together & visit.

My husband calls from out of town and I tell him we're booked all reservations made. My tough guy actually says, "Oh good, Ben is going to have such a good time"! = )

I think places here are just getting into the "pet friendly" way, but I should be able to find a nice holiday spot to take her. She need to be a little better mannered before I'd be game to try - she's pretty good outdoors (can usually be let off lead without too many troubles), great with other dogs and people etc, but wants to run off with just about anything (she's a little thief!).

Your holiday sounds like it's going to be fabulous. Hope you all - Ben included - have a great time (and Brontë sends her best regards too). By the way, saw the before and after shots of Ben on the other thread - doesn't he look gorgeous!
