Okay, we all seem like a fairly mature group of people. ;) So I'm hoping I can ask this question without starting a flame war. *looks around nervously* I'm sure everyone's got at least ONE series (anime or manga) that they simply can't stand, and yet everyone else seems to adore it. So, I'm just curious...what's yours and what is it that irks your ire? ^_^

For me it would probably have to be Death Note - the anime mostly because once I watched it I decided against reading the manga. While I appreciated the art of the series and enjoyed the music, I just couldn't get into it. Basically I had a really hard time with the "main character" being the villain. At first I was okay with what he was doing, but the very first time he took an innocent life to protect himself, that all changed. I continued to watch the series because I wanted to see what all the "hype" was about...and I didn't want to tell Death Note lovers that I hated it without having watched it all the way through to the end. *laughs* Anyway, I was pretty disappointed with...just about every aspect of the story itself. I'm doing my best not to give spoilers to anyone who hasn't seen it, but I think I can safely say that there were several characters that I wish had been alive at the end of it all and weren't. :( So...yeah...not a Death Note fan (just a Matsuda fan.) ;D

no not really

I never saw the Death Note anime, myself. I read the manga until halfway through the second arc, more or less, at which point I decided that the story actually ended at the end of the first arc, because I hated the way everything was going so much. Then last summer, curiosity made me finish the thing and I wish I hadn't. So I've never seen the anime. I liked that the main character was the villain, though. It was interesting.

One that everyone else seems to love, but I hate? Bleach. I did like it until the first time the crew goes to the shinigami city, whatever it's called, but once they leave Japan, the whole thing just goes to crap. There's too many characters, too many shounen power-ups, and not enough of the light-hearted humor that filled the first parts. Plus, some of my favorite characters seemed to be totally disregarded (Tatsuki, Kon, Isshin, Kallen) in favor of newer ones with super powers.

I also hate Gakuen Alice, for similar reasons as Bleach. Though instead of shounen power-ups, it's shoujo-angst. That and it's bothered me that Mikan and Natsume (is that his name?) are only eleven years old.

Keristars - Are you talking about the Gakuen Alice anime? I've only read the manga. It was interesting, but not something that would work as an anime (I thought - but I can't say as I've never seen the anime).

I've never seen/read Naruto (because I didn't like the drawing style... but it seems to be really popular), Bleach and Death Note. The little I know of the storylines did not appeal to me, so I just never started reading/watching those series.

I've started reading the ElfenLied manga because everyone was so enthusiastic about it. I tried to read it and almost decided to stop, and after a few volumes I really stopped reading it. I couldn't continue, it was too horrible >.>

I also saw one episode of "Full Moon wo sagashite" on tv (but it was a Christmas episode broadcast in the summer...) and I thought it was not interesting at all. Didn't understand why people liked it XD But maybe I should just read the manga then.

Nope - talking about the manga for Gakuen Alice. I haven't seen the anime for it, either. I didn't get moved to the bottom of my reading pile until the arc with the middle school principal, and her Only Girls thing (I really hate that trope in manga where a character is "allergic" to the opposite sex, by the way), but then I dropped it completely when we started getting the background of Mikan's parents. It was just so absurd, and I found myself laughing at these kids standing in a fog, watching the past through what was basically a movie screen, clutching each other's hands, except they weren't actually doing anything, so we'd get random establishing shots showing the kids to remind us of how we're learning about the past, and someone would gasp dramatically or wipe a tear, and it was just ... I dunno, so bad that it was hilarious? Also, the whole "view the past via window from foggy bank" thing was a bit difficult for me to accept, not to mention how melodramatic the kids were about the whole thing.

And there are so many characters with special skills and junk to keep track of, I have to have the wikipedia page open just to read a chapter, and that's super annoying. (I've heard that it's not uncommon to need that for Bleach, either, these days.)

death note, for me... it was already popular before the anime and the movies, so i gave it a try then. i didn't see what was so great about it, really. unfortunately, one of the reasons i probably have gone from indifference to dislike is probably because of the fandom.

Some anime and manga are so overrated or overhyped that I don't understand why. One example is the Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. I just couldn't get into it. It is one of those I keep hearing about everywhere and I don't get what the hype is all about.

Sailor Moon is another one I didn't find myself drawn to. I have only seen the first season, though, so I cannot say anything about the rest.

I admit that Death Note was overhyped but I personally liked both the anime and manga.

I didn't enjoy the Gakuen Alice anime but I do love the manga. I admit it is a bit too much for kids in grade school but they grew up over the series.

The Kare Kano anime is another one I just couldn't get into. I know it is loved by many people but I didn't enjoy it one bit.

ditto for suzumiya haruhi.... i hated the show, mostly because i hated her. the sequencing and story-telling was def interesting, but i couldn't stand to watch it.

i also greatly dislike love hina........... i'm not necessarily sure if "everyone else seems to LOVE" it these days, but it sure seemed that way when it had just started airing/getting subbed.

Mene - I've only only seen one episode of the anime of Full Moon wo sagashite before but I completely hated it too. They destroy the plot and angst and turned it into a bright and cuddly kids show. I suggest trying to read the manga and there is a big chance you might like it more. If you don't it is no biggie though =P
You can read it online for free at onemanga.com

As for stuff I hate, that would be Bleach.
Stuff I never really got into that everyone is nuts about would be Vampire Knight, I loved the art style in the manga and the first two books were great but after that the whole plot was like bleh, tl:dr.

I didn't like Love Hina either. Actually, I was never into harem shows. The same goes Ai Yori Aoshi.

The manga for Full Moon wo Sagashite was definitely better than its anime adaptation. I have seen 28 episodes only of the anime but I didn't think it was that bad.

I did enjoy it quite a lot but I guess School Rumble was a bit overrated too.

Lucky Star Vol. 1 for me. I mean, I liked the intro, but the show, to me, was horrible. It was like the unfunny Family Guy of anime, composed solely of inside jokes and name dropping. Even the art style I like, but the show itself is just painful to watch.

For me it is also Bleach (although I will still read the manga, I gotta know how it will end no matter how long it will take me). I stopped watching the anime when they got into the Bount arc, I felt for filler it was too long and overly complicated to be just ignored when the anime gets back to the main storyline. I really started to dislike the manga when it got all serious, I enjoy a good serious manga but not when it was a comedy at the start, for Bleach to have started as a comedy manga and have it now be a serious manga were nothing happens seems very disappointing.

Bit of an "older" title, but I never liked the Fushigi Yugi, manga or anime. I love Yuu Watase's art and admire her storytelling, but I just couldn't stomach some of her characters. I just find some of them unbearably annoying, and underdeveloped. I also felt the same about Alice 19th. I like all of her other series though.

The other is Evangelion. I tried to watch it many times, tried to enjoy, really, I did. But it just never kept me interested long enough to finish an entire episode.

>3 keristars: & 12
I kinda feel the same way about Bleach - in the beginning it was pretty awesome. I enjoyed the combo of action and humor and was interested by all of the Soul Society stuff. The arc where they're running around trying to save Rukia was okay for me...I was interested enough in the back story of WHY that I was (mostly) able to endure the 10-episode battles. ^_^; But I quickly got tired of all the "level ups". Now I've got a friend who continues to read the manga and keeps me updated on what's happening. That way I can get the story line I'm interested in without having to endure the multitude of battles. :)

>13 SophieCale:
I have to admit that the first time I watched the FY anime, I thought it was the best thing since sliced bread. ^_^; Of course, that was a LONG time ago, and now that I've seen plenty more wonderful shows I can accept it for what it is - mostly mediocre. Although I will still occasionally whip out the DVDs and have a little marathon. *laughs*

I also completely agree with you on Eva - I'm one who prefers to finish what I start, so I watched that show from beginning to end...and then I watched the last disc again, thinking that I'd missed something...I hadn't. :( I felt really cheated...like the writers couldn't come up with an ending, so they just threw a bunch of nonsense together and...I dunno...hoped the fans wouldn't notice, maybe? ;)

more of the opinion that anno hideaki just likes to mess around with you. he was actually pretty satisfied with how he ended the evanglion tv series. then people complained so much about the ending of the tv series that he created a movie and went hogwild on that one.. which pissed some people off some more, but, at least, it was an ending... lol. or so many older fans like to talk about it.

16keristars
mayo 19, 2010, 2:52 pm

According to TVTropes (I won't link, out of courtesy), Hideaki was in a crazy place, or something, by the time they got to the end of Evangelion, and that's why they're doing the new version movies. But I don't think I've ever quite understood that - I thought the 2.0 was because of the lasting popularity? (I only saw the first 4 eps of Eva waay back when I was 13 and had very little idea of what anime even was, the only other one I'd seen was Tenchi Muyo, and I just thought it was super confusing.)

>8 lilasia: I thought I wouldn't like Suzumiya Haruhi, either. All the hype, and my experience of not liking the super-hyped stuff made me really wary (Love Hina, Shakugan no Shana, Hidamari Sketch, Azumanga Daioh, FullMetal Alchemist, plus the ones already listed in this thread...). But it was about a year ago that I discovered how much things had changed since I was a teenager, and they were just starting on the re-airing, and then the talk about Endless Eight piqued my curiosity and I fell in love before I even saw the series. The show itself wasn't quite worthy of all the praise, I guess, but the construction of the story, all that meta-stuff? totally awesome. It really appealed to me, as someone who studied literature in college and whose favorite topic was narrative techniques.

It probably figures that I ended up a big fan of the light novels, and can take or leave the anime (it doesn't have a lot of rewatchability, I don't think). I haven't even bothered with the manga.

>8 lilasia:, 10
Speaking of Love Hina, I wonder if part of the problem is that it just hasn't stood up to time very well. It's definitely got a place as a cornerstone series for modern manga/anime (especially the harem genre, especially for American audiences), but just because something played a big role in the past, it's not necessarily good. But because of the big role it had, people still praise it and think of it as being remarkable. I had to slug through a lot of "literature" of that nature in school, such as one of Percy Shelley's first novels. It's remarkable because of the form of atheism it promotes (fairly rare at the time), and for being a novel he wrote at age 14 that wasn't completely unreadable (and he did go on to be a famous and good writer), but some of it is just laughably bad.

Watched these in Japanese so idk about the English versions...

1) .hack//Sign
I just don't get it. I stuck with this anime for as long as I could, which was EIGHT FREAKING EPISODES. I feel that I gave it MORE than enough of a chance to get interesting. It never did. It's sooo slow and it just bored my brains out. I like video game settings but that one was just painstaking. How could anyone stand to watch that anime?

2) Gintama
I think this anime is meant to be a comedy? There were a lot of scenes where I felt like I was SUPPOSED to laugh, and a few times I actually did, but most of the time this show was just not that funny. And it's like, I do GET the jokes, they just don't amuse me. This show wasn't really a /waste/ of time (unlike .hack) but I have more enjoyable things to watch. And I don't get what's so great about it.

3) Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei
I wanted to like this, I really did. I feel like I would some how be "cooler" if I did like it. But I don't. I really, just don't...

>>To those talking about Haruhi Suzumiya:
The only reason I watched that was because of an episode of Anime TV (downloaded from iTunes). They talked about how it was making fun of all the different types of anime. That put the show in a new light. I ended up thinking it was "okay." But it was kinda boring. I'm reading the manga now though and I like it more. It moves faster and makes slightly, slightly more sense.

The anime rocks for one reason: the dance at the end/credits. It is SO CUTE. I really want to learn it!

>16 keristars:
Seriously?! You didn't like FMA? Blasphemy!!! That latest manga chapter was awesome! (HOLY CRAP. The best manga chapter EVER. WRITTEN.) Ohhh, wait a second! I just remembered that I ALSO used to hate that show! Oh my goodness! I had totally forgotten about that! Reading the manga and watching the new version of the series has 100% ERASED my hatred of the original series, I guess! (I mean, really, to have completely FORGOTTEN that I ever didn't like it? Wow!) I respect this manga even more now that I've realized that!

But since I didn't love it straight away, I guess it's not blasphemy after all... I hated it because of the episode with the chimera... It was so disturbing and an epic fail as a gateway episode. Did you watch it from the beginning, unlike me, and STILL not like it? I find that so hard to believe! Although I have yet to watch the original... Maybe FMA: Brotherhood is that much better?

But I'm not joking about that latest chapter and it being a fantastic story. It's told so well! You start off in the beginning with this premise about the kids wanting their bodies back and seeking this stone to help them. My god, the way that plot EVOLVES! The story never gets off track from that! And when you look back you can see (so clearly!) how everything has been planned from the beginning, all of the twists. (And there are frickin' awesome twists!) And the history of the world and the way it all unfolds... Coupled with fantastic characters and some pretty dang POIGNANT social commentary... AH! Fantasssstic storytelling in this series, man! How can you not love it with every fiber of your being?? T__T

I would not have defended that anime so strongly if not for the latest chapter. It was awesome before that but it's EPIC now. Man, I am still so HYPED. I'm so excited for a storyline that's so planned out and awesome, that doesn't meander or fail to make sense. That's not just some random romp through an interesting world but a real, honest-to-god STORY. That PROGRESSES. Real PROGRESS! In such a short period of time too! Again, some really fails to love this? I'm shocked.

Haha! My posts in this group have easily been way longer than any other I've posted in LT talk threads. ...Then again, most of my other groups are meta-LT, like Combiners!.

Anyway, no, I didn't care for what I saw of FMA. It was only a few episodes here and there (the first one, then a later one, and then one further off than that) that I caught on Adult Swim a few years ago. There was something about it that just didn't work with all the hype I'd seen, and I just wasn't impressed.

I have wanted to try it more, and I almost watched FMA:Brotherhoood's first episode last week, but I was confused about it being a reboot of the series or a sequel, so after five minutes I turned it off. And then when I checked TVTropes about it, I learned that it was a reboot, and it had switched to the second episode with On Demand, so if I'm going to watch it, I'll have to find another way. I'm not really big on watching a lot of tv, though, so it'll be a while. I'm in the middle of five series right now, and it's a real pain to get around to watching them. (Especially the ones I'm watching with CrunchyRoll, because of having to deal with laggy internets and headphones and being annoying to watch video on a laptop...)

lol i guess that's the point of the topic thread.. hating what everyone else seems to love. (or, more accurately, what you hate that everyone seems to love).. i'm on the side of people who really like fma (although i'm not sure about love yet)...

> 16
i'm totally with you that the construction was interesting... and the parody... so i liked the first episode aired (which turned out to be what, ep 6 in the natural sequence?).. unfortunately, i just could not get past suzumiya haruhi the character herself. i usually have a pretty high tolerance for what can be deemed crap by many people, too... this happened to fall into the short list of titles i hate and dislike (my biggest hate being the abashiri family, for some reason). i like strong female characters, but she's kind of like... the b of the third kind or something, lol.

you could be right about love hina... but i'll be honest and say that i really don't know much about current trends. i definitely knew more 6-10 years ago.. lol. (i think i mentioned on another thread that i've really only watched one new anime title a year in the last 7 years? most of my anime watching was between 1998-2003). definitely agree that just because something played a big role in the past, it's not necessarily good... (ie, devil hunter yohko, blue seed, and iria: zeiram the animation were a few that played a big enough role, i think, in the american market a while back... but i liked a lot of the not necessarily good ones, too XD) i don't know if it's still being hailed today, but it was definitely a big favorite back then.. and quite a few people jumped on the akamatsu band wagon.. but then some of them are falling apart with negima. if we're going to talk cornerstone for harem... we can still reach farther back to tenchi muyo! and ranma 1/2.

to add to the topic of anime/manga that everyone else seems to love, but you really hate... i'll just refer to my hubby's choices, as well.. lol. he absolutely hates ranma 1/2 the anime, although he loved the manga. (btw, he also love ai yori aoshi, which i think was listed in this thread for hated titles XD)

Since it's only been a year that I've been really watching anime or reading manga (I saw maybe 8 series before then), I've probably been biased towards more recent things. But when I was looking for the really popular manga to read, so that I would have a similar background to other fans when talking about it, Love Hina was definitely up there. It got a lot of mentions in lists of "you should read this..." even if it wasn't the #1 rec. So it might not even be popular because it's loved, but rather popular because of its place in the American history of manga.

What's wrong with talking about what we didn't like? I'm pretty sure that none of us would be members of this group if we didn't find that we enjoy a lot of different kinds of manga and anime.

Sometimes, it's fun to talk about what you don't like with other people, particularly when there's disagreement and someone else does enjoy it (I mean, I don't hate FMA, but I wasn't impressed by it - yet, because of riddleraven's post, I'm thinking of trying it again; likewise, because of talking about what I DO like in this thread, I got a recommendation for a series that I think I'm going to really adore).

Here is a manga series that I absolutely loathed, from chapter 1 (and yet somehow persisted in reading for four of the ten volumes?), which I challenge you to read: Boku wa Imouto ni Koiwosuru

It isn't licensed in English, so you'll need to find it online. To that end, here is its page on MangaUpdates.

It's a shoujo manga about this weak-willed can't-do-anything-on-her-own girl whose older twin brother decides that he is madly in love with her and wants to screw her. Because she can't do anything for herself and relies on her brother for everything, she decides that it's better to let him have his way than to lose their relationship - and then she decides that maybe she's in love with him after all. He's controlling, manipulative... you name it, but the whole series treats this as a super romantic lovey-dovey thing, and it's actually sad that he goes to a boarding school that requires the shinkansen to get to, while she stays at home. All the shoujo angst is the normal kind that comes with long-distance "forbidden love" relationships in other manga, with very little recognition that the whole thing is actually unhealthy (at least at the point I quit in disgust - I don't like leaving things unfinished, and I had originally kept reading to see if maybe it got better).

On the other hand, this series has a lot in common with the unhealthy relationships from the Twilight series, so maybe you'd like it after all. :/

(Also, the art style is horrible. The eyes are in the least appealing style ever, and the pointiness of the faces makes the brother look quite frightening. But that's not an aspect of the story - other manga from the same writer with more appealing characters are equally scary looking.)

>18 keristars:

Maybe this is just not a show that you can get into except by watching it from the first episode? Or reading the manga? It's a good thing that the plot stays on track if you understand it. But you definitely can't benefit from the revelations that happen in different episodes if you don't know why they are important and they aren't revelations /to you/.

And I keep wanting to stress how strong and focused the plot is but that really wasn't something that I even /noticed/ in the beginning. I took it at face value at first, like I'm sure you will too. After all, in the beginning you don't know where it's going and it's not until you get further in that you can look back and see where you've been. That's the point that you realize, "Wow. So much has been in the works for so long! Both from the out-of-character side, and the in-character side!" It's that type of storytelling. It's sooo good!

>18 keristars:, 22 + anyone else who wants to try FMA out (Yay!!!)

Do you read manga or just watch anime? FMA: Brotherhood is good but you might actually have more success by starting with the manga. (That's what I did when I decided to give FMA another try. I went to the source!)

But if you still decide to go with the anime I reccommend watching at least the first five episodes. Three--at the very, very least--if you absolutely hate it (although I can't even FATHOM that you will).

3-5 episodes is a good rule of thumb for getting into any anime, IMO.

Hah, I was the same way, anything that came out I got my hands on as soon as I could. The result is that I now have an amassed manga library full of stuff I rarely read.

For me, it was a scarcity thing. When I began to seriously read manga, Tokyopop was still Chix-mix and Viz was still releasing Animerica. Books were still flipped and there was rampant "americanization" in all translations. Because it was so hard to find stuff, whenever I DID find something I bought what I could. Being selective was kind of a luxury, because really, there WASN'T much to choose from, lol.

But NOW....lordy, I pass the manga shelves in the bookstore and see new titles almost every month. Some have even stopped me in my tracks because I never woulda thought that american companies would ever DREAM of licensing certain artists/titles. For example, Yuki Yoshihara's ledicomi's have been translated and my cousin had to pick my jaw up off the ground for me when I saw it. And as for Yaoi? The titles you see today would have been an absolute NO back in the day (talkin' about 2000-2001).

I don't wanna pull out the Geezer-talk and say, "You young'uns should appreciate what you have today", but , lol, its TRUE!!!
I love that now we fans have the resource to be able to "dip our toes" in a title/series before plunging into it.

So to StrawberryPeep3737, complaining here is a good thing, lol. It means we have so MUCH to complain ABOUT.

>24 keristars: (keristars)

Apparently, it won some award for shoujo manga in 2008?! I don't even know what's up with that.

But, uhm, the only reason I read as far as I did is because I have a thing about finishing series I've begun, and when I started reading it, I was in that same stage strawberrypeep is in, reading everything I saw because it was all new and I didn't know how to be selective yet.

There was an anime, too?! Geez... I saw that there was a drama when I was looking up the link the other day, but the last thing I want is to see it. There are a few things in media that I try not to encounter, if I can, and this sort of manipulative/abusive relationship shown in a positive light is one. (Also: rape; excessive drug or alcohol use, especially when it negatively impacts the pov character(s); and overly sexist, racist, ableist, etc behaviors, especially when they aren't acknowledged. For a Western example, I can't watch Glee because it makes me too angry. Which is kind of ironic, considering the title of the damn show.)

I remember reading a title that was very similar to "Boku wa..etc" but it was LOADS better: Tsumi ni Nureta Futari

It had the same premise -the sibling issue- but the characters made more sense, they were a lot more mature and the female wasn't too much of a doormat (there are times where she's taken advantage of, but she explains herself rather well, IMO). I only read the first two volumes, until I got distracted by many other things, but the little I did read I thought well of. Thinking back on it, its a title that seems much more suited to a movie adaptation than "Boku wa etc"

Also, to get back to the main topic (^_^;) I also never liked Love Hina, though I did read pretty much all of it. But it you ask me to remember anything aside from the fact that Naru was annoying as all hell and that the art was nice and clean cut, I will Fail miserably.
I have to agree with lilasia back up at 19, I always thought Tenchi Muyo! was a better example of the Harem genre than LH. I think Love Hina gets more credit because it was more of an "every-man" story, whereas Tenchi was kinda, well, spacey.

But the bigger thing, I think, was that Love Hina was released when Tokyopop was on top of their game. They were cheaper, faster and easier to find than most Viz or Darkhorse titles. It was part of the Big Manga Boom somewhere after 2002-2003. I remember there being a huge amount coming out just as I was getting outta high school. What were the Big must-reads then? hmmm... Inu-Yasha, for one, Love Hina, Chobits, Kare Kano, Cowboy Beebop for anime, um....Dragon Ball and Pokemon was still going strong....wow, its surprisingly hard to remember, lol.

Love Hina

Saint Tail

Steady Beat - it’s ok but not amazing. Years ago Tokyopop had a contest within the US to see who could write/draw the best manga. Steady Beat was the winner.

Until the Full Moon

.hack//Sign – I watch the anime for a bit but it did not seem as though the story was going anywhere.

I never liked Prince of Tennis. After X went on hiatus a large percentage of that fandom went on to Prince of Tennis and I just... couldn't. I tend to not like shounen stuff in general, but I couldn't get past episode 12, and I only watched that much just so I could follow a conversation.

I must admit, though, that the 1st live action musical adaptation was hysterical and worth every moment. So I guess the 12 episodes were good for something.

More than one, even. I only saw the first one, but I laughed and laughed and laughed and oh, it was crack-tastic! I don't know where to find it online anymore, this was years ago, but someone somewhere's got to have it.

Definitely
-Lucky Star. Wtf?? I really don't get it. It's annoying, stupid and is there a story? Just watched 1 episode, and this was enough for me.
-Ouran High School Host Club - watched a few episodes, nice animation, but for me, I felt disappointed about the fact, nearly everyone found out, that she is not a boy/man in the first episode. The twins, this young boy- annoying.
-Mario+Holic - just painful to watch, although the summary did actually interest me
-Gravitation, Sukisho, Papa to kiss in the dark- just painful, i like bl, but with these series, I banged my head.... I usually stopped after the first episode.

The Twelve Kingdom... the lead female character (Yoko) just got on my nerves. And it didn't feel like the series was going anywhere.

FLCL ... just to weird for me.

I agree with you, that yoko is annoying, at least in the beginning. But if you watch further, it is actually one of the best anime-series I watched so far. The lightnovels are way better, because there is no stupid monkey, and yoko isn't so whiny.

Fruits Basket by Natsuki Takaya. Couldn't get into the story.

Is it just me or is it usually with "harem" anime that if you've seen one, you've seen every single one?

Also, Tenchi. I never got into Tenchi.

I don't know why but everyone I talk seems to love Inuyasha but I could never get in to it. I tried watching it but Kagome was just a character that I hated and made me stop watching the show.

I don't care if I get shot for this one but Naruto is another one that is just impossible for me to watch. I don't know what it is but this anime just rubs me the wrong way.

And I agree with everyone who hates Bleach, Eva, and Love Hina.

For me, would be Vampire Knight and Princess Ai...

I can't figure out for the life of me why I don't like VK very much. I like Hino's art a lot, and I'm sure the plot is like a lot of other manga; ones that I like... It might be the fact vampires became something of a "fad" because of Twilight.
Princess Ai, I just couldn't get into. I'm not sure if it was the melodrama, or the "feel" of the story, but it's just not my thing...

I guess neither of these I "hate" really, I just feel extremely indifferent about them.

I'm also not a fan of Death Note. I read the first three volumes of the manga and caught a couple episodes of the anime but wasn't impressed with either one. I just really didn't like Light at all and L creeped me out.

I probably got through the first 10 minutes of the Bleach anime and gave up watching it. I haven't been inspired to try out the manga.

I agree. Naruto is tough to get through. It's just a little too childish for me. Admittedly, I only watched 4 or 5 seasons worth then I just gave up. The characters lost my interest and the new ones introduced didn't spark my interest.

Inuyasha can be entertaining at times but the storytelling isn't that good. The story doesn't really go anywhere. At this point the art is pretty old school too.

The Death Note manga is awesome for me. Especially the first 7 books. After that if falls apart. The anime is horrible. I don't know how they managed to get the exact same story told so differently.

A lot of BL manga and anime both. I like a well told story, and most of these are sadly lacking in a storyline at all.

Fruits Basket
UGGGGGH. I loved the first volume and was entertained with the rest for a while but the story doesn't progress! The two boys are obviously in love with her but nothing happens. Well, I probably didn't read far enough but I just couldn't. I was bored to tears after a while. Maybe if they were doing more than just meeting new zodiacs every time you turn around, but that got old so fast...

Dragon Ball
Sorry. I missed the bandwagon. It's impossible to appreciate now. For what it's worth, I think I would've enjoyed it as a kid but that's all.

.Hack//Sign
GAG me now. I was dying to be put out of my misery with this one. I've never seen such a boring anime in my life, allthough parts of Tsubasa Chronicles were close (they stretched their episodes out so long!!! It's really hard to watch. I liked the Tsubasa manga though). I don't even know what else to say except that I honestly, honestly, was never so bored and probably never will be again compared to that!

lol, love the post.

Fruits Basket was good in the beginning but the ending was not that great. It kind of reminds me of Breaking Dawn (Twilight). They just end, with nothing happening.

I however do not agree with Dragon Ball. Though I'm a girl, I still really liked the series.

I don't need to add anything since I totally agree.
