The Time War and the Eighth Doctor's regeneration

I'd love for this story to be officially told in a series of novels. surely the BBC has enough good writers available to put together a decent trilogy (or even a longer series) filling in the blanks...

I'm not sure about the latter, I've been unimpressed with the NSAs. However people have stated it will never happen due to issues with the BBC charter. Personally I'm not that interested in such a story (but then I thought that Daleks vs Cybermen would be shit ... and it was).

I agree that the NSAs aren't all they could be, especially when compared with the NAs (I haven't read enough EDAs to make a comparison) but I wasn't thinking of these books as being part of the NSA range since it was presumably the Eighth Doctor who was involved. If put in the hands of the right author(s) I think it could be worthwhile.

The NAs, EDAs and NSAs are all very different beasts, the New Adventures were continuing the TV series with a more mature audience "stories too broad and deep for the small screen" went the tag line, there were a lot of new authors writing for the series and a lot of experimentation with everything.
The EDAs took a step down, they still explored a range of thing but, it was in a different direction, plus while they were still continuing from the TV movie the BBC was trying to hit a wider audience.

The NSA are a little different they're tieing into the whole Doctor Who franchise, the NAs/MAs and EDAs/PDAs were the focus of the adventuring.

I think it's actually better untold, whenever the novels have got close to the 'mythos' it just complicates things, tantalising tastes are good, but going out there are laying down all the events sort of locks in the future production teams to that version of events.
Maybe at some point we'll be able to work out what happened in the time war based on all the vague mentions and references across all Doctor Who media.
