Hi folks

I'm having a bit of trouble deciding what to read next. Below is a link to my "to read" collection. All nudges welcome. Thanks!

Ooh, you have some good books there, but I think all things considered, I'm going to nudge The Thirteenth Tale. It's got a slow build-up in suspense and a Gothic feel to it.
Jane Eyre is also good, and I would recommend reading it before The Eyre Affair.

I'm only familiar with two of your choices, one from my own reading, Jane Eyre, and one from other's recommendations, The Thirteenth Tale. So, I'll give a small nudge to Jane Eyre. I didn't expect to like this book but I really ended up enjoying it.

Now, if I was to nudge strictly on the title of a book, hands down, I would nudge The Eerie Silence: Are We Alone in the Universe?.

Well, considering my LT handle, I'm obviously nudging Jane Eyre. Caution, though, that Bronte uses a little bit of French-language dialogue (although not as much so in Jane Eyre as in Villette), so if you don't know French make sure you get an edition with footnoting. (If you do know some French, though, you shouldn't have any trouble.)

bell7 is absolutely right that you shouldn't read The Eyre Affair until you've first read Jane Eyre.

I see you've also got The Children's Book on there. As an interesting little aside, the (unabridged) audiobook reading is by Rosalyn Landor, who played Helen Burns in the 1970 TV adaptation of Jane Eyre (IMDb) starring Susannah York and George Scott.

Mrs Dalloway is sublime (as in hard to put into words, wonderful, intimidating, all at the same time), but you need to be in the mood for it. Jane Eyre is definitely a must-read. Those are the only two I've read.

I would recommend Jane Eyre followed by The Eyre Affair!

Thanks everyone. I've decided to read both The Thirteenth Tale and Jane Eyre. From what i've heard about both, I think they'll compliment each other nicely. Thanks for the tip about reading Jane Eyre before The Eyre Affair...which also sounds like an interesting read.

I know this is a bit late, but Number9Dream is fab!

Never too late for a nudge! I recently finished Number9dream and enjoyed it. Mitchell really has a great imagination. His books are always worth a read even if i find some a bit patchy. His new book sounds very interesting.

BTW, where did you get the "timeline" on your profile page - i like it!

Thanks! I think it's just something that LT does... or that someone has written for LT. Anyone can see their own timeline by clicking on: http://www.librarything.com/lttl/.

Oh, The Moonstone! I opened that one night for a little bedtime reading and ended up reading until 5 AM.
