Hello,

I'm going on a trip to Korea (app. 13 hr flight).. on March 16th
and since I am very likely to finish The Origin of Species I was wondering whether you will help me on which book to read from these:

1. Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier
2. Death with Interruptions by Jose Saramago
3. The Woman in White by Wilkie Collins
4. Shades of Grey by Jasper Fforde

Of course..I receive recommendations besides these..
I can always buy books via amazon and read it in kindle..

The Woman in White is the only one i've read but i'd strongly nudge it. A really good plot and some excellent characters such as Count Fosco and Uncle Fairlie. Loved it!

Rebecca is excellent. The only problem is that you will then want to read all of her books. I have Death with Interruptions on my to-be-read list also, so I am curious what others have to say about it.

I second both suggestions. Rebecca is engrossing once you get past the first thirty pages. It's a classic psychological mystery.

The woman in white is very 19thC, but surprisingly good (if you can get past the slowish bits). It's a mystery novel, with a really good plot that's satisfyingly complicated and, indeed, some memorable characters (I'd like to nominate the manservant, in addition to the ones named by scarper). I heartily recommend it.

Rebecca or The Woman in White - both are definitely good reads for a flight.

I think Rebecca would be good for a long flight--it's engaging, but not too taxing a read.

Rebecca is my absolute favorite book, so I have to recommend it!

I haven't read it yet but everyone is raving about how great Shades of Grey is.

Shades of Grey would be a really interesting transition from The Origin of Species. It is clever so you need a seatmate who isn't bothered by the occasional chuckle.

It's so hard to decide what to read...
Maybe I need to pack multiple books along the way..or so :)
I think Rebecca is winning so far..but only barely..

So it's too late to pick something for your flight now (hope it went well). 13 hours was probably enough for you to have read both those greats, Rebecca and The Woman in White and if you didn't, then you should be looking forward to them when you get back because they are both amazing!
