Now I've got the hang of this picture thing...
I also have a mini-challenge going on, to read a book whose title is a full sentence. Which one of these should it be?
Good Morning, Midnight by Jean Rhys
I May Be Some Time: ice and the English imagination by Francis Spufford
Observe The Sons Of Ulster Marching Towards The Somme by Frank McGuinness
I Have Chosen To Stay And Fight by Margaret Cho
Remind Me Who I Am, Again by Linda Grant
Mr Norris Changes Trains by Christopher Isherwood
Seize The Day by Saul Bellow
He Died With His Eyes Open by Derek Raymond
I Could Read The Sky by Timothy O'Grady
Tell Me A Riddle by Tillie Olsen
Come To Me by Amy Bloom
I Put A Spell On You by Nina Simone

I haven't read any of them, but I've been intrigued by I May Be Some Time. If you read it, you could tell me what you think ;)

ditto #2. I haven't read any of these but I would be interested in the Linda Grant book.

sqdancer - will do! I liked his book, The Child That Books Built, and I like reading about polar exploration, so it was an easy choice for me to pick it up!

Oh, I would say
Tell Me a Riddle by Tillie Olsen( I saw a movie made from this book many years ago- it was so touching that I spent about 20 minutes in the washroom crying! I then bought and read the book)
But I also liked Mr. Norris Changes Trains and Good Morning Midnight.
You have a good list there!

I actually just read Remind Me Who I Am, Again over the weekend, because I picked it up, had a look at the first line and then had to keep going. It's excellent, although sad - an unflinchingly honest look at the author's mother's decline into dementia and the author's own guilt about the situation, combined with a memoir of the mother and the family/generation/era that she belonged to.
I think as Tell Me A Riddle is the first 'real' nudge, ie from someone who has read it, I'll go for that next!

Wandering _star,
Read Seize the Day! Bellow is just great at exposing his characters to all the tumult in the world and leaving them miserable!

Either Linda Grant or Isherwood. Both are great books in very different ways.

I don't think I'm going to be able to get through any more reads before February ends, so none of these will be eligible for the challenge, but I will keep them at the top of my TBR pile. I especially like the recommendation for Seize the Day. I'll have to find a day to read it when I personally don't feel too exposed to tumult.....
