I loved this book and want to read more, but now I can't remember the author.
Set in the mountains somewhere. She was heading an archeological dig in a remote place with mountains and something went wrong. She was rescued, then kidnapped by a man named Warlord. He held her for a while but escaped. He found her later to protect her from his family, which are shifters of some sort. I wish I could tell you more..really good book and part of a series.
Thank you,
Jamie

First reaction would be Alex Archer's Rogue Angel Series, Plot is reminscent of the first book Destiny - though my memory is a single shifter hidden by a religous order.
Lead character is Anja Creed who is both an archeologist and a field reporter for a cable TV show - Chasing History's Monsters. During the course of the book she finds a fragment of what turns out to be Joan of Arc's sword and becomes the possesor of the reassembled sword.
ETA: There is a group called "Name That Book" who seem very helpful in identifying all sorts of books (Under "Community Groups" on the group page).
