Obviously I've fallen in a time warp, so please disregard my 2010 post, which I can't seem to make go away. Let's see if we can round up a comprehensive 2009 list.

About two weeks ago, USA Today (Jan 14) came out with its top 100 books for 2009. I could perhaps start on that. USA Today mixes paperback and hardcover, fiction and non-fiction, and includes books for young people. But, I would not post here, but in a separate topic like '2009 - USA Today list.'

I did put in the top 20 from the USA list: (link: http://www.librarything.com/topic/84063 ). I really wanted to put in about 10 or 20 more books, but ran out of steam. Plus, I did the list too close to the end of 2009, and so the number of copies owned in LT was in some cases not very significant.
