Ok, I'm feeling a bit uninspired at the moment and could do with a shove, never mind a nudge as to what to read next! I am currently reading A Tale of Two Cities, and loving it, so I need something good to follow...

Absurdistan, by Gary Shteyngart
A Changed Man, by Francine Prose
The Emperor's Children, by Claire Messud
The Faces of Angels, by Lucretia Walsh Grindle
I Predict a Riot, by Colin Bateman
The Necropolis Railway, by Andrew Martin
Portrait of an Unknown Woman, by Vanora Bennett
The Rosary Girls, by Richard Montanari
Yesterday's Spy, by Len Deighton

Any advice would be greatfully received! Thanks a lot in advance.

This is bit of a non-nudge. Although I really did like Gary Shteyngart's first novel The Russian Debutante's Handbook, I would have to compare his second Absurdistan to the Borat film- if you like that , then you will like Absurdistan.

The only book on your list that I've read is Portrait of an Unknown Woman. I found it entertaining but not terribly memorable. I would recommend reading it if you enjoy historical fiction and you are not too bothered by characters who occasionally act in ways that are in odds with the reality of their time periods - I guess that makes this a conditional nudge!

Hmm, in the absence of any concrete nudging, I picked up a different book, The Seymour Tapes, by Tim Lott, which is proving to be quite intriguing so far. I may read Portrait of an Unknown Woman when I'm in a more forgiving mood!
