never heard of the Home Delivery Network, I'm afraid, but I've had many problems with Parcelnet deliveries when other companies have sent items via their service -- I live in a block of maisonettes at the end of a road and due to lack of signage couriers seem to have difficulty finding my home, and I've even been told my number (and presumably the others in the block) don't exist!

I've had some experience with the HDN. Amazon tend to use them when they want to send stuff cheap, did you use 'super-saver' delivery?
Unfortunately, they were pretty lousy the first time Amazon used them, nothing turned up for weeks, and Amazon had to send a replacement package via Parcelforce (which arrived promptly, of course!).

The HDN were kind enough to deliver the original set of books the very next day...!

They have delivered some other stuff to me OK, but I've always been here to receive the packages, which, if i recall correctly, didn't require a signature, but I can't say for sure what HDN policy is on leaving packages in porches.
Royal Mail are excellent when it comes to this (or maybe thats just my local post-person) but other services like DHL are really funny about doing this, even though, like you, we have an enclosed porch.

Hope you get the package OK though, sorry I can't be of more help.

Amazon are pretty good about refunds, but if HDNL haven't been able to deliver, you might need to contact them to arrange another delivery/ collection.

No doubt the nearest collection depot will be a few hundred miles away on some maze of an industrial park (bleedin' DHL).

But I'm sure in this case things will turn out OK! :-)
