Johnson's biographies are always a treat. I've read his Lives of the Poets many times and wanted to get hold of some of his other life studies. I recently obtained a copy of his life of Edward Cave, the London publisher who employed Johnson as a young man. It's posted on my blog, with an introduction, at http://newrambler.wordpress.com/2009/03/31/edward-cave/ (updated link).

Nice piece. I liked the excerpt from Johnson about the poetry prize.

It strikes me that there may have been a long of idiot savant - like entrepreneurs throughout British history. Some of the creators of the independent labels in the British music industry maybe, and how about Branson?

It is splendid that you have resurrected Edward Cave for us.
