Hi folks . . . How do you all handle Catalog access? If you give out the password can't everyone edit info (or even one teen just "trying it out"). Is there any "read only" access so patrons can see everything but not change anything? This issue has just hit me and I'm concerned. Maybe I'm just missing something . . . I hope. It may be a real issue though since LT was designed for personal libraries.
I'll try to E-mail the LT administrator with this question also. Joyce

I don't give out the password, but I'm setting our church members who are interested up with their own LT accounts, then they can "friend" our church library and see everything in the catalog. Since memberships here are free up to 200 books, that doesn't limit someone who may not be interested in cataloging a lot of their own books, but they can still use our library here.

As for posting reviews of the books, etc., if I ever get any, either the member can post them in their own library, or they can give me the review to post in our church library.

FYI, a person doesn't need to be logged in to LT to view member libraries.

#3 - That's good to know, I wasn't sure, but I'm an LT pusher anyway, so I try to get them using this site. :)

Thanks for your quick responses . . . you guys are great!

sqdancer: I thought so. I thought I'd tried it earlier but I can't seem to get it to work right now. I'm going to call a friend and get her to try it from her home.
I can't even get out of my church library on my home computer! It zeros right in on it. Honestly, "signout " won't sign out. I tried to go to my personal library. Couldn't. Closed down LT, reopened, zapp, VineLibrary.

I've been really worried about people editing all the books I've posted on our church LT. So everyone needs to join LT with their own account then 'friend' our church account? Anything else I should know?

#6 Actually no, church members don't have to join LT. Anyone can see your catalog - just give them the link:

However, I do encourage people to join.
