Anybody going? Nowhere near as big as the Summer one in London. Its up in manchester, supposed to be a focus on Milds, Stouts, Old Ales and the like. Generally stronger darker and heavier beers to keep you warm of a cold and wet night (it is Manchester). Previous national winners have been Robbinson's Old Tom and Gale's festival mild.

If you are there, keep an eye out for 3 Rivers' Old disreputable, amoungst many other treats.

(They've got mead, cider and perry on for non-beer drinkers)

Can you give more details of when and where. I am often in Manchester where my mother lives.

Here - http://www.winterales.uku.co.uk/

It starts this Thursday and carrys through to 10:30pm Sat, afternoon and evening sessions. Music some evenings. Food was not of the usual beer festival quality last year. Don't know the situation this.

Its held in the CIS building near to Victoria. Hasn't been particularly well sign posted in the past.
