Does anyone know whether there is a group about Elizabeth Gaskell? I ask here first, because at first, through searching 'Bronte' I couldn't find this group and then it did existed. So before I create a new group for an author that already exists... Thanks!

I'd love to discuss North & South - my favourite book!

I did a search for her and couldn't find anything. However, when I tried to look at an complete alphabetical list of the groups I kept getting an error message. I would look under Es and Gs first. But then go for it!

I also wouldn't be opposed to having a few Gaskell threads here, as someone in one of the threads said, she is an honorary Brontë.

(I think her style is closer to that of Jane Austen, myself.)

There is a book Victorian Publishing and Elizabeth Gaskell by Linda K Hughes . While not a bio, there is a wealth of information about the writings of Gaskell. If you look at amazon there is information on the book.

There's also a highly respected biography Elizabeth Gaskell: A Habit of Stories by Jenny Uglow. It's sitting in my Bronte bookcase now, TBR.
