What about the Ladybird Readers?

Does anyone have some of the Primary Readers? What do you think?

I had the "Dick and Jane" versions as a kid in the 1970s. Long gone. I think I have one newer edition (1990s?) somewhere. Maybe because I've been imprinted by the old ones it didn't seem as... attractive. The illustrations, I mean. The covers are glossy and slick, not matte like the old ones.
