Banned Book Week

I was just thinking isn't Banned Book Week coming up in April? When is Banned Book Week this year? Do you think we should all should chose a Banned Book to read during this week?

April IS National Poetry Month. But I say anytime is a good time to read poetry or banned books :D

i do think we should plan to read some banned books, maybe even do 4 weeks of banned book reading with the actual week in the middle. let me know if you want to brainstorm some ideas beatles!

Do you think there's any way we could all read some Banned Books for an entire month instead of just the week from September 26-October 3. atlargeinthewrld and I like the idea of being able to read Banned Books for an entire month. Anyone else interested in doing this too?

Would be fun to plan some coordinated reading for Banned Books Week. Maybe start at the beginning of September, so we'll finish a title or two by the actual week.

Meanwhile, I hope we all found at least one "scandalous" poem to include in our reading for National Poetry Month. ;-)

This blog - http://wissup.blogspot.com/ - directly related to the hell being raised in West Bend, Wisconsin, claims Banned Book Week is a farce. It's several posts deep, but worth reading if you need to get your blood boiling.

This is a woman calling for books to be burned, and then saying that there's no such thing as book banning in the US. INSANE-MAKING.

I actually work at the library where this occurred, and was able to see the end of the library board meeting where they formally told this woman that they weren't going to label or move any of the books. It was phenomenal.
