From what I recall, Sassinak will stand on it's own. The main character of this book is not in the first two at all.

I've read the Dinosaur books and Sassinak and have NO idea why they consider them part of a series.
Sassinak is the first of three books yet can be read as a stand alone. The next two are Death of Sleep and Generation Warriors.

>2 ryn_books: This is going years back so I could be wrong, but doesn't one of the following books deal with the Dinosaur Planet again?

It isn't critical to read Dinosaur Planet and Dinosaur Planet Survivors to read any of The Planet Pirates series. They do share some characters and events, but the series is understandable without them. Dinosaur Planet and Dinosaur Planet Survivors are in print as the omnibus The Mystery of Ireta.
