Has anyone seen "The Moderns"? One of my favorite characters of the time, Bill Bird, is depicted as "Oiseau", who is played by one of my favorite character actors, Wallace Shawn. I own the video-must get the dvd. I think it's a treasure. Don't know if it's on netflix, it's pretty obscure, but worth checking.

I've not seen that one, but I just joined netflix and hurray hurray, they've got it. Or at least I think it's the same one...here's the description:
Writer-director Alan Rudolph turns his eye on 1926 Paris for this elegant, wry film. Keith Carradine and Linda Fiorentino star as Nick and Rachel, former lovers who reunite amid the artist-packed cafes and salons. Rachel's an alcoholic trapped in a loveless marriage to a bullying businessman and art collector. Nick's a painter involved in a scheme to forge some famous artworks … which leads to complications when Rachel's husband buys them.
Have now added it to my queue! Thanks Judie!

Well, it's not exactly a movie, but I came across this libretto while doing some random combining work, and thought I would share: 27, Rue de Fleurus by Lisa Koch (music and lyrics) and Ted Sod (book and lyrics). It seems it was off-Broadway last year; did anyone happen to see it?
In the meantime, I'll have to pick up "The Moderns" immediately. Thanks, as always, for the new info.
The only other LG film that comes to mind is the CBC mini-series "Hemingway vs. Callaghan". My parents taped it for me as I was away at school when it aired. I should go see if I can find it! Good old VHS...

Oh that's so nice to know about! I get to NY often, but hadn't heard of this one. I shall look up the Hemingway one. Thanks!

Just found "The Legendary Life of Ernest Hemingway", 1988, at blockbuster online. Unfortunately I have Netflix & they don't have it. The review mentions Pound, Stein, etc. Anyone know it?

I finally got The Moderns I added to my queue all those months ago and watched it this weekend. I loved it!
