The Bible was commissioned by the Benedictine monks at St. John's Abbey and St. John's University in Collegeville, Minn. in 1998 to celebrate the beginning of a new millennium. It was begun on Ash Wednesday 2000 and finally finished on May 9, 2011.

The Naples (Florida) Museum of Art now has one of the full size St John's Bibles on display and it's quite lovely and striking. If interested, you can also buy a reduced size, about 9.8 X 15 inches, St John's Bible (I believe that it's in seven books) at Amazon for about $40 to $50 each and likely available elsewhere as well.

This is off topic but, for the glassophiles (to coin a word) among you, the same museum also has three major Dale Chihuly pieces, including the Persian Ceiling. It is a multiple piece glass exhibit, with multiple colors and shapes on a backlit clear glass ceiling in a hallway. It leaves you awash in color and shape.
