Like most Blyton fans I loved the Famous Five series especially the first 12, finishing with "Five go down to the sea", which had a wonderfully evoked Cornish background - after that they went off considerably. Similarly, the "Barney" books should have ended with The Rubadub Mystery, in which Barney finally finds his father, but EB went on to write 2 more, The Ratatat Mystery and The Ragamuffin Mystery, much weaker in my view. What do other readers think?
