Why are some new books not being published on kindle?

What makes some publishers not publish their books on kindle? I am really surprised that Joe Torre's Yankee Years is not yet available on kindle.

Many publishers distrust the current numbers as to adoption of e-books by the mainstream consumer. They may also not entirely be ready to deliver digital from a production standpoint. The tipping point hasn't yet been reached and print will be with us for awhile yet.
