My 10 x 12 greenhouse came from Harbor Freight. It's a DIY project. The wiring and plumbing and benches and heat sink cost as much as the greenhouse. It's a place to play when the wind blows cold.
Heating a greenhouse is a big expense if you live in a cold climate and want to grow orchids. If you just want to hold over fairly hardy cuttings and start some seeds early, it's a great idea.

There's an interesting piece in a recent NY Times about this idea, though it might proved tooooo discouraging:

As someone who built a 10x12 one many years ago for growing orchids, I can second the article's caveat that things will be pricier than you think, particularly if you'll be heating it (as FoxesJean points out). It's now a nice place to start seeds and cuttings and store stuff.
