In the past year and a half I have lost a huge amount of weight, 160 pounds. I'm 51 years old and have been a yo-yo dieter for more than 20 years. I have lost over 100 pounds 3 other times in my life prior to this most recent time. It has made such an impact on my life that I decided to write a book about this success and the difference between it and all my other weight loss failures. I searched for other personal weight loss memoirs and read a few. I think mine has a unique take on the subject and just wondered if people would be interested in this type of book. Your thoughts?

I like autobiographies a lot. And I am interested in weight loss and other self-improvement accomplishments. So, yes, I might be interested in reading your story.

I did it the old fashioned way. Counting calories and exercising. I joined a gym and worked my butt off. It's also a story about the special person I met that helped me. If you've seen the show "The Biggest Loser" there is a trainer on it named Jillian Michaels. The young lady I met who helped me became "my Jillian". I had a heel spur and she was my physical therapist. It's a story about my past struggles, failures, and ultimate success and how she kicked me in the butt and spurred me on.

I think it has potential. There are plenty of us in the same boat always looking for inspiration.

Absolutely! Weight-loss memoirs are one of my favourite types of reads. I don't know how big the audience for them is, though. Many of the ones I've read don't seem to be really big hits (e.g. Half-Assed: A Weight-Loss Memoir by Jennette Fulda; From Chunk to Hunk by Fred Anderson; The weight-loss diaries by Courtney Rubin. I am always fascinated by the weight-loss journey and would be particularly interested in a memoir involving such major weight-loss on multiple occasions, especially if the last one sticks, so to speak.

I read Fulda's website for a time but was turned off by her low carbohydrate fad dieting.

I tried some of those fad diets all the other times I lost massive weight and they don't work. I found out that diets start and stop but a life-style change is permanent. I finally changed the inside first, then I changed the outside. I used faith, accountability, personal responsibility, and good old fashioned hard work.
