I just discovered LT in July, and spent most of my first months entering my library, while reading. didn't get into the 'group' thing until I saw the 999 challenge, so I've been building my list for that. However, I have read 73 books so far this year, and know I'll finish two more. Is it too late to post my list?

I won't have reviews for all, but can rate them, and hope to get suggestions for follow-ups for next year (or year after since I'm doing the 999 coming up.)

Never. It's always great to have new people here and see their interests.

Of course it's not too late. If it's handy, put up a list of what you've read. If not, just start listing them from today. If there's something we're interested in on your list, we'll bug you. I promise...8^}

Welcome, tututhefirst!

I'm looking forward to reading your list.

You can also join the 75 challenge in 2009--several of us will be doing both the 999 challenge and the 75. You can post your 999 books in both places so that those who don't do both will get to see your books on the challenge you share. (Does that make sense?) And any book you have time to read that isn't in a 999 category you will have a place to post it in 75.

I'd better quit while I'm only a little behind--my brain seems to be fried and my first student will be here in 30 minutes!

Reboot! :-)

Thanks Music Mom==I hadn't thought about doing both, but that's a great way to handle books that don't quite fit the 999. I'll begin posting my 2008 books (sans dates) tonite. Want to do at least a few comments on each, if not a full review.

Thanks everyone for the encouragement. This group certainly seems friendly and very well read. I've already gotten SO many ideas --my TBR list (and my Alibris wish list) is growing by leaps and bounds.

BTW I keep my wish list on Alibris vice Amazon because I have a Upromis account for my granddaughter, and Alibris gives 3% to her account everytime I buy. So they are my 'first look' (after the public library that is.).

Looking forward to meeting the challenges. Tina

Welcome to the group!

Be prepared for mountains of books to be added to your TBR list, lots of conversation, comments, and questions. We are a very curious bunch.

Like tutu I'm slowly working my way into groups and have only just looked at this one. 75 seems workable and I've seen many potential tbrs already. Trouble is, I don't expect I'll manage even a list by the end of 2008. I live in New Hampshire and the loss of electricity from last week's storm (water, heat, lights, computer, LibraryThing) has put a serious damper on my holiday planning and preparations. I'm very pleased to hear a 2009 group is underway!

muddy21.
As I write I'm listening to the news reports about the terrible storms in NH and Maine. All good wishes to you. May the light shine brightly on your holiday!

*smiles wanly*

Thanks to you both for the good wishes! One thing about all this snow is that it definitely puts all the outdoor projects on hold, so now I can do some serious reading with a clear conscience...or at least, I can after Thursday. Until then, it will have to be with a guilty conscience ;o) I think we're going to be putting our tree up on Christmas Day - not the way we usually do it, but we'll just think of it as trying out a new tradition.

tututhefirst..
16" of snow in Maine...yikes. I will try to remember this when I dream of retiring to that beautiful state.

Happy Holidays to you. So sorry to hear you had to attend a funeral in Baltimore, but happy to know that you are safe.

Message 18...hi to you!

Merry Christmas, one and all!

Been out of the loop since Monday--traveling and putting up a tree and entertaining friends from Kansas (in California for Christmas) over Christmas Eve--etc! :-) I'm taking a brief moment to try to catch up--but I can smell dinner cooking!

At least We have no snow!

By the time I get on again we will probably be ready to start a "too late to join" thread on the 2009 challenge! ;-)
