Hi Cornpuff and welcome to Book Nudgers! One book you really should read while you're still a teen is I Capture the Castle by Dodie Smith. If you wait till you're older you'll still enjoy it, but it'll be even better now...I was in high school the first time I read it and I've read it many times since.

Hi cornpuff12, I read through your library and asked my almost 13 year-old daughter for suggestions. She's reading The Pretties, part II of the Uglies trilogy by Scott Westerfeld. She said to tell you that she highly recommends the set.

I noticed that you enjoyed Flush by Carl Hiaasen so you might also like Hoot. And if you're a fan of Cynthia Khadota's Weedflower, my daughter says you will also like Kira-Kira by the same author. I could go on, but I will stop because there are many here who can give you a variety of terrific suggestions.

Edited to try to get Kira-Kira touchstone to work.

cornpuff: When I was a teenager I loved The Member of the Wedding by Carson McCullers. This might suit you if you are, say, 16 years plus.

Hi cornpuff, I've browsed through your library and these are some of the books I think you'd enjoy reading:

Any of Sarah Dessen's books.
The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas by John Boyne.
A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith.
Ella Enchanted by Gail Carson Levine
The Traveling Pants series by Ann Brashares
Any of Tamora Pierce's books.

I'm going to throw another nudge at A Tree Grows in Brooklyn. That remains one of my favorites from when I was a teenager. I was also quite fond of historical novels set in England in the Middle ages. Anya Seton comes to mind--Green Darkness, Avalon. Another author I loved in my youth, and still enjoy is Mary Stewart. Her novels are romantic, but not "Romance novels". The Ivy Tree and The Moonspinners were two of my favorites. She also wrote a wonderful version of the King Arthur legends in three books--The Crystal Cave, The Hollow Hills and The Last Enchantment. (Are you reading yet?)

I see you have Shannon Hale in your library, so you might take a look at her book The Goose girl. I second Mary Stewart's books and the Travelling Pants series. Also, at your age I loved Jane Eyre, A Girl of the Limberlost, To Kill a Mockingbird, Anne of Green Gables and all its sequels.

Hi, cornpuff12!
I would like to recommend The Once and Future King. I love this book. I would also second To Kill a Mockingbird. It is amazing. And I also like Anne of Green Gables and Emily of New Moon. Happy Reading!

I also nudge I Capture the Castle. I also read it when I was a teen, and I'm a guy! I still read it again occasionally.

I will ask my son, who is 14, if he wants to join. His handle is 'Thespian', chosen because of his passion for theatre.

I've promised my daughter that she can join as soon as she turns 13, which will be soon. She can't wait. I'll send her your way.

I will put in a nudge for Rose Daughter by Robin McKinley or The Book Thief b Markus Zusak. The former is a retelling of "Beauty and the Beast," featuring a Beauty who can stand on her own two feet and two equally capable sisters. The Book Thief takes place in Germany during the Holocaust. It's a heart-breaker, but well worth reading.

Yet another nudge for the Anne of Green Gables series (I think Rilla of Ingleside was my favorite).

For a more contemporary nudge, Alcatraz versus the Evil Librarians by Brandon Sanderson was a fun read. I think the sequel is out (Alcatraz versus the Scrivener's Bones) but I haven't read that one yet.

We have Alcatraz versus the Scrivener's Bones. I haven't read it, but my son says it's even better than the first one.

I just finished Little Brother by Cory Doctorow and really enjoyed it. It is full of action/adventure and cool technology. I would warn, however, that it takes a pretty strong political stance. Definitely nudge-worthy in my opinion.

A big nudge for A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, such a beautiful book and one I will be going back to.

Hi Cornpuff, don't know if all your nudging is on the teen group now, but I just read a YA book that I would definitely nudge for you, A Countess Below Stairs by Eva Ibbotson.
